Special Events/Development Intern (Unpaid)

 Job Description        

RESPONSIBILITIES • Gain a basic understanding of the American Lung Association and its mission, advocacy initiatives and operations • Become knowledgeable about San Diego’s programs and its LUNG FORCE Walk • Create and disseminate materials for LUNG FORCE Walk • Assist in securing vendors and in-kind donations for LUNG FORCE Walk • Assist with mailings, data entry, and event participant troubleshooting • Assist with volunteer communication, outreach, recruitment, and coaching • Assist in logistics planning and coordination for LUNG FORCE Walk

 

 Qualifications        

• Must be working towards Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Public Health, Nonprofit Management, Hospitality, Communications, Public Relations or other related field • Must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours per week • Must be comfortable speaking on the phone and have excellent customer service skills • Must be computer proficient – Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • Must be able to work independently on projects • Qualified candidates must be enthusiastic, reliable, and be willing to learn new skills • Qualified candidates must be interested in ensuring Californians have access to clean air and the ability to reach peak lung health • Consistent with its mission, the American Lung Association maintains a smoke-free workplace; all unpaid interns and volunteers must abstain from tobacco use in any form
