Communications and Engagement Manager

 Job Description        

This position curates, aggregates, and creates content to engage superintendents, district administrators, funders, and policymakers in support of AVID’s mission of growing and retaining sites. The Communications and Engagement Manager is responsible for communication, in a sophisticated manner, of the impact of AVID to a wide variety of audiences, including school district leadership and educational constituents (teachers, boards, superintendents, principals), as well as media and other communication outlets and public relation venues. Responsibilities include day-to-day communication efforts through social media and other vehicles to enhance the AVID brand. This position serves as a critical voice in deploying strategic and tactical plans for a wide range of communications to multiple upper-level constituents.

 

 Qualifications        

• Passion for and a commitment to AVID’s mission • Proven track record of clear and effective writing/communication for high-level decision-makers within the organization, with partners at districts, and with potential partners for development and other alliances • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; strong project management skills • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions • Interpersonal skills necessary to establish, maintain, and grow good working relationships with an emphasis on tact, diplomacy, flexibility, collaboration, professionalism, and discretion • Ability to build strong relationships with diverse colleagues and to motivate superiors, peers, and others to meet ambitious goals • Ability to communicate and speak effectively when interacting with others or presenting information; strong written communication skills to communicate clear and concise information
