Vice President of Resource Development

 Job Description        

The Boys & Girls Club of Vista (BGCV) seeks its first Vice President of Resource Development to help achieve its vision of becoming the premier youth organization in Vista. Reporting to the CEO, this position will expand fundraising capacity and expertise in creating a development plan to support the strategic growth of the organization. The position is responsible for leading the growth, development, and successful execution of a comprehensive development program. This position will build relationships and a pipeline of annual donors with the ultimate goal of cultivating major donors. The successful candidate will build and manage a strong fundraising team of two development professionals with the goal of tripling fundraising revenue by 2023. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned fundraising professional with demonstrated experience in annual giving, major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, grant writing, planned giving, event-related fundraising, and capital campaigns. In addition to planning and executing a comprehensive fundraising program, the Vice President of Resource Development will also integrate and shape community engagement activities in support of the organization’s strategic vision and goals. KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): 1. Five years of proven fundraising success 2. Experience securing major gifts, corporate giving, capital campaigns, special events, grant writing and planned giving. 3. Create and lead a dynamic development team that understands the importance and urgency of achieving the organization’s fundraising goal of $1.5 million annually by 2023. 4. Provide effective leadership, mentoring and guidance in all fundraising activities. 5. Recruit and manage development department. 6. Develop a fundraising plan to advance the Club’s strategic plan. 7. Cultivate relationships with key potential donor prospects leading to prospective donors at major gift levels. 8. Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing plan to support strategic plan. 9. Other duties as determined by the CEO.

 

 Qualifications        

• Proven track record of successful resource development, including planned giving, major gifts, institutional giving, and foundation giving, with a proven, successful track record of donor cultivation. • A four-year degree from an accredited college or university is required. A Master’s or advanced degree is preferred. • Certification from the Association of Fundraising Professionals for equivalent is highly desired. • Be a talented communicator with a passion for the Club’s mission to present a compelling story. • Experience closing gifts above $100,000. • Proven ability to lead an effective and productive development team. • Ability to successfully work in a collaborative, team-oriented organization. • Demonstrated ability in clear and effective written and oral communication including excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. • Ability to find new and efficient ways to create innovative approaches to increase efficiency with programs. • Experience managing complex programs while balancing multiple priorities effectively. • Must pass fingerprinted based criminal history check and other job requirements as requested. Salary is $85K a year to start with room to grow. Flexible work environment which full benefits package, paid holidays, vacation & retirement plan.
