About Francis Parker School: Francis Parker School is a coeducational independent day school in San Diego, California with 1300 students in grades JK-12. Founded in 1912, the school’s mission is “to create and inspire a diverse community of independent thinkers whose academic excellence, global perspective and strength of character prepare them to make a meaningful difference in the world”. Overlooking Mission Valley, two separate campuses serve students in Lower School – junior kindergarten through 5th grade; Middle School – 6th grade through 8th grade and Upper School – 9th grade through 12th grade. As a college preparatory school Parker offers a comprehensive program that includes twenty-five advanced placement courses as well as a rich palette of electives – all designed to meet the individual needs of our students. Job Description: The Francis Parker School Advancement Office cultivates, inspires, and supports the School’s culture of philanthropy from parents, alumni, grandparents, parents of alumni, students, faculty and staff, and friends to advance the mission of the School. Reporting to the Head of Advancement, the Director of Advancement (DOA) will assist in leading the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts for giving. The DOA creates and implements fundraising strategies, strengthens relationships with the Parker community, engages constituents through meaningful events and opportunities, and excels in a fast-paced fundraising environment.



Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Cultivation, Solicitation, and Stewardship: • Attain annual parent giving participation and revenue goals • Manage 40-50 major gifts prospects • Manage an annual giving calendar and ensure timely and effective outreach to families • Plan, strategize, organize, and execute the Day of Giving (in partnership with the Parents Association and Gala leadership) • Set goals, train, support, and serve as fundraising liaison for annual giving and Day of Giving volunteers • Create fundraising appeals in partnership with the Communications Office • Promote and advance consecutive years giving • Oversee research and screening of constituencies; utilize research data to identify major donors/prospects within the community • Partner with colleagues and volunteers to maximize contributions and ensure clear communication in the cultivation and solicitation process Events / Meetings: • Plan, organize, and execute the Head of School New Parent Dinner • Co-lead the Parker Networking event • Attend Gala leadership meetings • Attend all Advancement events • Attend select School-wide events to meet and interact with community members Administrative Services: • Review all gifts to Parker • Review and edit donor receipts and acknowledgement letters • Review the monthly index giving participation report • Provide oversight and backup for gift entry in the database • Update gift receipt and acknowledgement letters annually • Ensure all volunteer activities and actions are properly tracked • Ability to run reports and manage data Qualifications: • 5-8 years of experience in fundraising. • Strong fundraising track record of closing six-figure gifts. • Ability to work effectively with many diverse constituencies in a school environment. • Outgoing, intelligent ambassador who understands best fundraising practices and knows how to work on a team. • Executes vision and priorities, and understands the importance of meeting goals. • Strategy and thought leader. • Possesses a sophisticated, high EQ. • Represents the School and Advancement Office with the highest level of professionalism. • Detail oriented. • Builds trust and keeps confidences. • Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge and online fundraising databases (i.e. GiveCampus) preferred. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Microsoft Office suite expertise. • Detail oriented and data driven self-starter.
