 Job Description        

Millie's Bookshelf is a 501(c)(3) humanitarian literacy nonprofit organization based in San Diego, CA dedicated to ensuring that displaced people worldwide have access to adequate reading resources. Millie’s mission is to improve childhood literacy and well-being by addressing book deserts in conflict settings. The Development Manager will be responsible for building out an efficient Major Gifts and Corporate Partnerships outfit to support our international work. This position will report to the Executive Director and involve approximately 5-10 hours of work per week. This is a volunteer position and successful performance in this position in no way guarantees future paid employment with Millie’s Bookshelf. As such, this is the perfect opportunity for someone looking to volunteer for a meaningful cause, transition into the humanitarian industry, or get experience working in a start-up environment.

 

 Qualifications        

•Bachelor’s degree in international relations, business administration, or related subjects; •3+ years working in a development role – preferably in major gifts, fundraising events, or cause marketing; •Comfortable working remotely – must be self-driven and able to meet deadlines with minimal supervision; •Interest in or experience with working in the humanitarian industry; •Application: Resume & 1 paragraph outlining 2 companies you would target for a cause marketing partnership and how you would initiate a partnership.

 

 Additional Information        

Specific Responsibilities •Develop comprehensive Major Gifts program from design to solicitation of gifts; •Map potential cause marketing partnerships and secure 1 new partner for 2020; •With communications team, set remaining grassroots donor social calendar and goals for 2019; and •Plan and implement Giving Tuesday (Dec. 3) campaign
