 Job Description        

The Marketing & Communications Coordinator, a member of the External Relations team, is responsible for helping communicate Balboa Park Conservancy’s brand via multiple channels and platforms. The successful candidate will help create and implement mission-driven promotional materials, social media content and strategy, powerpoint presentations and website updates. They will organize meetings and presentations, and interact with vendors and contractors to effectively deliver the Conservancy’s message to internal and external audiences. The candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have in-depth knowledge of current marketing trends. The Coordinator will support fundraising and community outreach, parkwide events and placemaking, visitor experience, signage and wayfinding, and other mission-driven initiatives through strategic and effective communication deliverables.



- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or Journalism - A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working in a marketing or communications position - Possess a solid understanding of effective marketing techniques - Must have excellent writing and editing skills - Be able to communicate clearly and effectively - Strong time-management and organizational skills - Proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop and/or InDesign preferred - Proficient in WordPress preferred; experience in Canva a plus - Proven initiative and ability to manage a project from conception to completion - Excellent time management and organizational skills - Needs to work well both independently and with a team and display excellent follow through and self-initiative - Capacity to take direction and embrace constructive feedback - Ability to work professionally and collaboratively in a semi-open office environment


 Additional Information        

Under direction of the Director of External Relations, the coordinator is able to create, coordinate and execute projects that strengthen and uphold brand guidelines. The chosen candidate thrives in the dynamic culture of a growing nonprofit, is professional, dependable, and accountable for their work. Physical Demands: - Ability to lift 30 lbs - Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time - Ability to stand/walk for 1.5 hours continuously - Ability to sit at a desk and view a computer screen for long periods of time - Able to speak into and use a telephone for long periods of time - Ability to bend, stoop and reach
