 Job Description        

Under the direction of the Chief Development & Marketing Officer, the Director of Development, Major Gifts is responsible for developing, implementing, and scaling a comprehensive major gift program for Feeding San Diego to achieve short-term and long-term financial goals. The position focuses on securing private support from individuals and family foundations at the $50,000 and above level. In addition, the Director of Development, Major Gifts works in concert with the Director of Development, Institutional Giving & Donor Relations to create department plans and revenue forecasts, evaluate and enhance the donor experience, and ensure the integrity of fundraising methods.



Demonstrated success in identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors for gifts of $50,000 and above Ability to effectively engage board members and community volunteers in fundraising Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills Strong planning and implementation skills  Results-driven professional with an ability to work independently Ability to work a flexible schedule; availability on evenings and weekends for meetings and events Experience using technology and development software to support fundraising activities; experience with Salesforce preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel Innate curiosity and interest in people, which drives the desire for deeper, better understood relationships Extensive knowledge of development principles, fundraising ethics, and laws and regulations concerning charitable contributions
