The Development Manager plays a critical role in the high energy team that leads San Diego Childrenís Discovery Museum in inspiring children to learn about our world through exploration, imagination, and experimentation. This position manages the daily activities of the Development department, and works closely with the Executive Director to support donor outreach, stewardship, and fundraising campaigns to help ensure organizational revenue goals are met. The Development Manager will work closely with the Marketing & Events Department to manage fundraising aspects of all special events, including our annual fundraising gala. The Development Manager reports to the Executive Director, and is a part of the Leadership Team.
This position is being filled during an unusual time, as the Museum is currently closed to the public due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. The position will primarily function as a remote position until the Museum begins the process of reopening to the public.
BA (required) in Nonprofit Management, Development, Marketing, Business, Museum Studies, or other related field; MA preferred.
3+ years of experience in nonprofit development.
Demonstrated interpersonal and team-building skills to establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, donors, volunteers, and board, with an emphasis on tact, diplomacy, flexibility, collaboration, professionalism, and discretion.
Knowledge of Altru, Blackbaud, Raiserís Edge, or other donor database or sales management software, and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Graphic Design and Video editing ability a plus.
