|
As the Director of Donor Relations (Major Gifts Officer) for Serving Seniors, this position will design, develop and implement our major gifts program. Responsibilities include managing and nurturing relationships with existing major gift donors, as well as identifying new major gift prospects. An ability to empathize with donors and clearly communicate our organization’s mission is key. This position is an essential member of the development team and will be expected to expand donor support, and meet annual fundraising goals.

As manager of the major gift program, responsibilities include:
• Helping donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a relationship with Serving Seniors
• Secure major gifts at $10,000 and above
• Manage systems and software to track and cultivate current donors and prospective donors, including our donor database and wealth screening tools
• Oversee a portfolio of 100-125 donors and prospective donors
• Create and implement moves management plans (identification, qualification through research; cultivation; briefing; request for support; and prompt follow up, stewardship, and public and private recognition)
• Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assist the board and other staff with their solicitation (e.g. provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications)
• Track and report progress using specific metrics
• Work with the development department to align efforts and set goals

Bachelor’s degree (Graduate degree preferred)
• Demonstrated experience, success, and progressive responsibility in fundraising with a minimum of five years experience
• Ability to set goals strategically and oversee execution
• High level of discretion and ethical approach to fundraising
• Proven ability to interact and influence philanthropic leaders
• Have an outgoing nature, and a true people person
• Be sensitive to the needs of donors and have the ability to make donors feel valued
• Be a self-starter and be driven by results
• Comfort and ease using a donor database, prospect research and other wealth screening tools to aid in the moves management process
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies
• Excellent writing and speaking skills and ability to use them to compel individuals to action
• Be organized, prepared, detail-oriented and able to follow through on promises.
