Special Event Intern
Title: Special Event Intern
Reports To: Executive Director
Position Available: Immediate
Organization Mission: The San Diego Oceans Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting ocean sustinability.
Job Description: Are you looking for an exciting and fun internship that makes a direct impact on our oceans? We are searching for the perfect candidate that is enthusiastic, motivated, and goal oriented! This position is the perfect balance between behind the scenes development and marketing. On a daily basis, the Special Event Intern will coordinate effective marketing campaigns to increase visibility. SDOF provides a flexible schedule and a positive working environment. |
Key Responsibilities:
- Assistance with marketing, outreach and public relations
- Creation and distribution of publicity materials
- Public speaking at service clubs, agencies, etc.
- Outreach to increase awareness of services and service opportunities
- Assistance with fund-raising activities
- Complete tasks assigned by the Executive Director
- Assist with special events as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
Ideal Qualifications:
- Outgoing personality
- Excellent communication skills
- Belief in the value of the agency
- Adherence to client confidentiality policy
- The ability to exercise a non-judgmental attitude
- The ability to communicate positively and effectively with the public
- A willingness to be flexible and help with any needed tasks
- Excellent computer skills & personal access to internet
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
Work Environment:
- Standard office environment, plus work in Mission Bay, San Diego Bay, and outdoors
- Significant telephone and computer work (repetitive movement – typing)
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending and climbing stairs with occasional lifting loads (50 lbs)

This is flexible 20 hour per week part-time non-paid internship based in San Diego County, California. This internship program does offer college credit.
