Communications & Marketing Specialist

 Job Description        

This position is Responsible for Volunteers of America Southwest’s marketing, communications both internal and external, web presence, social media, developing communication P&Ps, public relations, and online presence. Participates in committees for special events and works in tandem with the Development department. Daily focus includes a communication program that is mission-driven, donor-centered, and results-oriented that has storytelling at its center and encompasses: website and social media, donor newsletters and other donor communications, event communications & marketing, crisis communications, public relations, marketing both in print and on the web.

 

 Qualifications        

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic/Web Design or related field, or equivalent work experience. 2. Excellent verbal and writing skills. 3. 5 years paid professional experience working in non-profit development communications including experience producing donor newsletters, eblasts, press releases, brochures and blog posts. 4. Proficiency with the internet, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, desktop publishing, Illustrator, Photo Shop, Excel and Adobe Platforms. 5. Excellent public speaking, interpersonal relationship skills and enthusiasm for Volunteers of America Southwest’s mission. 6. Demonstrated experience with customer relationship management Software applications including Blackbaud, Clearview, and Convio. 7. Must be comfortable multi-tasking, maintain good follow-through, able to work independently and have good proofreading skills.

 

 Additional Information        

Travel: 15% regional travel may be required. Must have reliable transportation, maintain a California Drivers License and automobile insurance in good standing. Working hours of Monday to Friday 8:30 to 5:30 p.m. Requires some early morning, evening and weekend availability for events and donor relation needs.
