 Job Description        

Scope of Work 1. Researches and identifies potential and appropriate sources of strategically aligned grant support (governmental, corporate, private foundations, associations). 2. Develops, writes, and edits clear and compelling proposals to funding organizations on behalf of UWSD, ensuring detailed quality control. 3. Manages and monitors multiple grant applications, follow-up and reports, including an organization-wide calendar of deadlines for applying for and reporting on grants, ensuring that deadlines, compliance requirements, and quality standards are met. 4. Meets agreed upon targets for number of applications submitted, number of grants received, and funds raised through grants. 5. Reports results of grant funding and progress toward grant deliverables to senior management.. 6. Ensures appropriate and consistent communication and brand messaging of goals and results.



This consultant opportunity may be right for you if you; • Craft funding proposals in a clear and compelling manner; • Possess excellent writing, analytical, and research skills; • Are self-motivated, detail oriented, and highly-organized, and have experience using online databases and other sources to locate biographical, financial, and philanthropic information; • Have a high level of computer literacy; • Possess an ability to work well under pressure and the ability to seek and synthesize information and communicate in a compelling and succinct form; • Have a solid understanding of budgets as they relate to proposals and grants; • Have a Bachelor’s degree; • 3 -5 years of relevant experience are required.

The United Way of San Diego (UWSD) is seeking a part-time Grant Writer consultant (10-15 hours per week) to support the mission of UWSD by prospecting, researching, writing, managing and monitoring various grant opportunities that align with the organization's community impact strategies, particularly as related to our education initiatives in children’s literacy and family stability.
