Grant Writer

 Job Description        

Summary: This is a permanent in-house position. The Grant Writer’s function is to sustain and strengthen Urban Corps’ financial health by securing grant funding for programs, services, operating support, and capital needs. The Grant Writer consistently researches new funding opportunities and maintains existing public and private funding relationships. This position requires superb written communication skills, attention to detail, and time management in a dynamic environment. Information synthesis and interdisciplinary thinking are key aspects of the position as Urban Corps’ program combines conservation, education, and workforce development. Working with the operations departments and Corps-to-Career student services program, the Grant Writer identifies potential projects, service needs, and equipment needs, and matches needs with potential funding sources. The Grant Writer works with the operations departments to identify leveraging opportunities, scopes of work, and budgets for project-based grants, necessitating strong teamwork

 

 Qualifications        

•Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience •Grant, contract, and agreement writing experience •Excellent verbal and written communication skills •Effective research and analytical skills •Strong organizational and time management skills, including ability to multi-task •Self-starter and able to determine priorities in order to meet deadlines •Familiarity with Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Outlook, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint) •Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently •Ability to communicate and work with young adults of diverse backgrounds Desired Skills •Knowledge of federal, state, and local grant requirements •Public relations and governmental relations experience •Knowledge of local conservation issues, environmental review procedures, and permitting processes •Knowledge of best practices in workforce development, education, and wraparound social support services

This is a permanent in-house position.
