 Job Description        

POSITION SUMMARY The Staff Accountant is a full-time position that is responsible for processing payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entry, tracking and entering monthly depreciation, and providing assistance to the Director of Accounting & Benefits Administration when directed. This position is also responsible for participating with the accounting department in Center events in order to supervise staff and volunteers in appropriate cash handling procedures. PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for all aspects of payroll including collection of timesheets and input of payroll; distribution of payroll and benefit amounts for bank transfers; entering payroll into the general ledger; maintaining timesheets in employee folders; and overseeing quarterly/annual payroll reports Responsible for all aspects of accounts receivable including preparing deposit slips; making deposits at banks daily or as needed.



QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: Minimum two years of accounting experience in a non-profit setting. A bachelor's degree in Accounting. Related experience can be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Computer/Office Equipment Skills: Must be comfortable working in PC/Windows-based environments. Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook and Word. Knowledge of Financial Edge is highly desired. Other Skills: Must demonstrate competence in working with a variety of populations. Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities. Ability to supervise and lead volunteers of different cultures.
