 Job Description        

Be a vital part of our Development team in leading the Museum’s foundation, government and corporate fundraising strategies and efforts. The Manager of Institutional Relations will manage support from foundation, government and corporate entities. This team member must be a dynamic self-starter who demonstrates a high level of institutional knowledge as well as a sophisticated level of strategic thinking and writing as they cultivate and steward donors of SDMA.



• Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently with both internal and external leadership to strategically engage, cultivate, and solicit new relationships. Ability to gather and interpret data. Ability to manage and meet deadlines and work in a high-pressure environment handling multiple projects simultaneously. Good judgment and decision-making abilities a must. Diplomacy and discretion required as well as a respect for and understanding of complex donor and Trustee relationships. • The candidate must have excellent writing skills with strong attention to detail and strong interpersonal and communication skills. Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) proficiency required and development database (Altru) experience preferred. • Bachelor’s degree with 3 - 5 years’ experience and demonstrated success in non-profit grant writing, preferably in the visual arts. • Knowledge of the philanthropic community. Interest in the visual arts and/or museum experience preferred. • A valid CA Driver
