 Job Description        

Identify, cultivate, write and submit LOIs, responses to RFQs and RFPs, and grant proposals to various sources including government, foundation, and corporate funders. Manage online and paper submission of grant proposals, related collateral materials and reports. Research new grant opportunities for new and existing programs. Serve as Point of Contact/Relationship Lead for granting organizations, working with any other CHW departments that also have a relationship. Manage grant portfolio in Salesforce.Work with internal program stakeholders to develop a deep understanding of program activities and needs to drive financial support. Work with internal stakeholders and analytics team to create and maintain collection of programmatic data for outcome reporting. Be an active outward-facing advocate for the organization by maintaining memberships, attending/speaking at community organization meetings and events, attending RFP information sessions



Direct and implement all planning, coordination and delivery of grant development for Community Housing Works. The Grant and Engagement Manager is the primary grant writer with a yearly goal to raise approximately $400 600K in budgeted revenue through proposal writing, prospect identification, and relationship development. The GEM will write recurring and new proposals and reports, research potential grant funders and opportunities, cultivate relationships, and maintain records in Salesforce. The right person is an ambitious self-starter with strong interpersonal skills who will cultivate relationships, showcase our programs and strengthen our grant revenue.


 Additional Information        

BA in English, Social Science, Communications, with 2 years as a lead grant writer and/or 4 years of other analytical or sales writing experience or a combination or education and experience. Experience using data management software; Salesforce database experience highly desired. Excellent public speaker and willing to engage new audiences in a discussion of our mission and impact. Understanding of the nature of program design / outcomes and how to match those with funder priorities. Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills, professional judgment, and ability to handle confidential information. Excellent writing skills a must. Flexible with hours based on department needs minimal nights and weekends. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) plus internet search. Valid driver's license and regular availability of an insured vehicle to travel within San Diego County.
