Position Objective:
The Grant Writer’s primary goal is to contribute to the Grant Manager’s efforts to raise approximately $2.4 million in budgeted revenue through proposal writing. The Grant Writer will provide strong and inspiring stewardship through writing proposals and reports and by researching potential new grant opportunities and keeping accurate records.
Essential Functions:
The Grant Writer is responsible for the following:
• Write and submit grant proposals and reports, with a primary focus on supporting the Classes & Coaching and Community Building departments.
• Work with program staff to develop a deep understanding of services and needs.
• Update Raiser’s Edge on an ongoing basis as proposals are submitted.
• Develop e-library of support material and research to be used for grant proposals, and create a system for keeping the library up-to-date.
• Create a centralized system for identifying and keeping track of consistent language and information that should be used in proposals and reports in all departments.
• Co-manage the e-filing system of grant proposals and all related collateral materials.
• Research new grant opportunities for new and existing programs as needed.
• Participate in monthly grant meetings.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
• Excellent computer skills including knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and database program (Raiser’s Edge a plus).
• Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills, professional judgment, and ability to handle confidential information.
• Ability to write purposefully and strategically.
• Must be knowledgeable about Internet access and Internet searching.
• Superior English writing, spelling and grammar abilities a must.
Education and Experience:
• Minimum of BA in English, social science, communications, or equivalent education or experience.
