Director of Child Development

 Job Description        

Under general direction, plans, organizes, directs, integrates and evaluates the programs, functions and activities of the department including Head Start, Early Head Start, State Preschool and other educational programs for children and their families, in compliance with all applicable law, rules, regulations and funding agency requirements. This position represents MAAC, and its early childhood education programs, in its interactions with a broad range of business, community, service organizations, educational institutions, health care providers and other organizations and performs related duties as assigned.  Qualifications        

A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from a recognized four-year college or university with a major in education, child development, social work, business administration or a closely related field AND at least ten years of progressively responsible experience in education, child development, Head Start or other such similar program, at least five of which were in a management capacity relevant to human services program management, fiscal management and administration. A Child Development Program Director Permit may be required; a Masters’ Degree in a related field and bilingual in Spanish are preferred.
