 Job Description        

Founded in 1999, Outdoor Outreach (OO) is an energetic and innovative San Diego-based nonprofit organization that connects youth to the transformative power of the outdoors. We use outdoor recreation and education to promote youth leadership, health and wellness, civic engagement, and environmental conservation. The Director of Programs is a strategic thought-partner who reports to the Executive Director (ED). The Director of Programs will support the mission, vision and values and lead an internal team responsible for the following areas: program operations, development and evaluation; program team development; partner program development; and organizational development. The Director of Programs will play a critical role in partnering with the senior leadership team in strategic decision making and operations as Outdoor Outreach continues to enhance its quality programming and increase impact.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Applicants must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree and 3+ years demonstrated experience or equivalent in youth development, outdoor recreation, or related field. All candidates must successfully pass a Federal Background check before hire. Candidates must have strong leadership skills, excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Applicants must be hard working, self-motivated, team oriented and able to maintain positivity in the face of adversity. Successful candidates must demonstrate a deep commitment and passion for the mission, vision and values of Outdoor Outreach. Applicants with a clean driving record and ability to complete requirements for California Class B Commercial Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement including passing required drug/alcohol tests preferred. Applicants with First Aid and Adult CPR Certifications preferred. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES include: Demonstrated experience leading, inspiring and developing a staff team; Proven experience successfully creating, delivering, and evaluating youth development programs; Knowledge of outdoor recreation best practices, including staffing, risk management and partnering with land managers; Knowledge of and commitment to principles of diversity, equity and inclusion; Demonstrated experience managing the quality and content of service contracts; Demonstrated experience overseeing a programmatic budget; Technologically savvy with experience working with web-based and software platforms for program registration, program impact evaluation and program data management;Experience working with Salesforce a plus; Commitment to training programs that maximize individual and organization goals across the organization including best practices in outdoor recreational activities; Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Docs/Google Sheets.
