Warehouse Manager

 Job Description        

The Warehouse Manager oversees the movement and inventory of over 12,000,000 pounds of food that travels through Feeding San Diego’s (FSD) Distribution Center in support of FSD’s overall mission of ending hunger in the community. This is accomplished by focusing on the receiving, storing, and allocating of food to outgoing orders, while adhering to the highest standards of food and personal safety. Imperative to this role is a positive attitude, inventory skills, critical thinking, and the ability to interact with individuals throughout the organization and community in a positive fashion. The Warehouse Manager may be required to complete other tasks as assigned by the Director of Operations in support of FSD’s mission.



EDUCATION/YEARS EXPERIENCE Required  High school diploma/GED  Previous experience working within a warehouse environment  Previous experience operating and/or managing those operating heavy equipment  Basic level computer skills: email, internet search engines, word processing and spreadsheet software Preferred  Bachelor’s degree  Two years of managerial experience  Previous experience working in the non-profit sector  Previous experience working with the community  Experience with cGMP practices and audits  Previous experience working with CalOSHA and other safety regulations  Food Safety training Any combination of educational and work experience that would be equivalent to the stated minimum requirements would qualify for consideration of this position.


 Additional Information        

 Manage employees and successfully motivate them to achieve their goals in support of the mission of ending hunger in the community.  Build a culture of safety within our warehouse based on CalOSHA, standard operating procedures, and other regulatory policies.  Oversee the receiving of product in a food safe manner.  Create outgoing orders and allocate food according to order specific requirements.  Ensure accurate inventory through systematic documentation, transactions, and cycle counts.  Learn and oversee warehouse cleaning plan to assure compliance with all food safety requirements.  Learn food safety policies (AIB, FDA, California Retail Food Code, etc.) and ensure warehouse maintains a high level of adherence.  Serve as point of contact and take responsibility for warehouse audits (food safety and inventory).  Assess inventory levels and calculate projected needs based on demand, and communicate with Sourcing Department to procure food.
