Hunger Advocacy Network Manager/Coordinator

 Job Description        

Position Description: Facilitated by San Diego Hunger Coalition, the Hunger Advocacy Network (HAN) is a collaborative of 16 health, housing and social services agencies working together to influence and advance state and federal policies to end hunger. HAN achieves measurable change by influencing state and federal budget legislative policy and by increasing awareness among legislators and the public about hunger in our region. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Programs, the HAN Coordinator/Manager will be responsible for working to engage HAN members and partners in advocacy efforts at the state and federal level. This position will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including state and local non-profit organizations, community members, and elected officials. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to take a leadership role in shaping state-level policy on behalf of, and in close collaboration with, local community partners.



Required Qualifications: • Commitment to ending hunger in San Diego County by leading coordinated action. • Bachelor’s Degree in political science, public policy, social work, public health, or communications • 2-3 years previous experience working with government relations and lobbying, network building, or growing a grassroots initiative. • Strong project management, facilitation, communication, and writing skills. • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal organizational skills. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. • Highest level of time management skills and attention to detail. • Must have own transportation and valid driver’s license. • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Desired Qualifications: • Knowledge and experience with federal nutrition programs. • Spanish language proficiency preferred. • Experience with direct service preferred.
