Philanthropy Manager

 Job Description        

∑ Create and implement a development plan that engages current and prospective donors in SDCDMís mission and programs. ∑ Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective donors. Manage a portfolio of annual and mid-level donors. ∑ Conduct research and reports on donor giving and interests. ∑ Work with the Museumís grant-writer to track and monitor all foundation proposals. ∑ Assist in coordinating site visits, managing grant awards, and submitting annual reports. ∑ Work with Accounting to manage restricted grants, ensuring that funds are spent according to grant agreements/guidelines. ∑ Develop and sustain relationships and collaborations with local businesses, organizations and represent SDCDM at community and professional / networking events. ∑ Participation on the Development Committee of the Board of Directors. ∑ Manage the grant writer(s) and interns. ∑ Leads efforts in securing auction items and sponsorship fundraising events ∑ Leads annual giving campaigns.

 

 Qualifications        

Qualifications and Experience ∑ Exceptional interpersonal, communication, organizational, and team-building skills with an emphasis on diplomacy, flexibility, confidentiality, collaboration, and professionalism. ∑ Bachelorís degree and 3+ years of work experience in the development department of a nonprofit organization (e.g. donor relations, annual giving, special events, etc.). ∑ Capable of thinking outside the box and possessing an entrepreneurial spirit. ∑ Ability to juggle multiple projects and work both independently and as part of a team. ∑ Proficiency with and knowledge of Microsoft Suite. Experience working with fundraising software such as Altru or Raiserís Edge. ∑ Broad understanding of development principles and fundraising ethics. ∑ Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include nights and weekends. ∑ Salary range $55K - $60K and benefits, depending on the level of experience.

 

 Additional Information        

Founded just over 20 years ago, the Museum is at a point of inflection. The Museum has a new and dynamic Executive Director and will be embarking upon a strategic planning campaign in 2021. The Philanthropy Manager will play a crucial role in the high-energy, dedicated team that leads SDCDM. This position manages all development activities and actively collaborates with the Executive Director. The Philanthropy Manager will cultivate, solicit, and steward new and existing donors; assist in organizing and hosting special events; and help coordinate all annual-giving and fundraising campaigns to ensure SDCDMís growth and sustainability. The Philanthropy Manager reports to the Executive Director and is a part of the Museumís Leadership Team. The Executive Director anticipates this role evolving into a Director-level position.
