 Job Description        

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs medical examinationsincluding cervical exam, pre-natal, and evaluations, diagnoses, treatment, follow-up, consultation, and health education. 2. Obtains patient histories and develops patient care charts, ensuring completeness and accuracy. 3. Provides health education to students, families, and/or community health practitioners and groups, within area of specialty. 4. Supervises and/or coordinates the activities of patient care and/or support staff. 5. Administers a specific health care activity, as appropriate. 6. May participate in planning programs and in developing specific health policies and procedures. 7. Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods. 8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. 9. Order, perform and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, follow-up and appropriately communicate and document information. 10. Maintain detailed, legible and confidential medical records in accordance with established protocol. 11. Acquire information on the most current developments and trends in the Nurse Practitioner field, through educational programs



1. Current California license to practice above-mentioned duties. 2. Ability to relate well with patients and other health care personnel. 3. Cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically diverse patient- and employee-base. 4. Willingness to educate patients and the community in health maintenance and the role of the health care team. 5. Ability to work as a team member. 6. Bilingual in Spanish/English, Kiswahili/English, or other languages common to the community served, in combination with English is highly preferable 7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. 8. Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories. 9. Knowledge of health education theory and practice. 10. Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards. 11. Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures. 12. Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. 13. Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements. 14. Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise.
