|
The Executive Director is responsible for the leadership and management of the La Jolla Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, whose mission includes the discovery, collection and preservation of La Jolla’s heritage.
The Executive Director oversees the Society’s operations including strategic planning, program management, event supervision, exhibitions, preservation efforts, volunteers, and staff.
Other responsibilities include fund raising, grant writing, membership oversight, donor relations, marketing, facilities management, and community and public relations. He/she is the chief spokesperson for the Society in the community and with the media, building and strengthening our existing good reputation
The Executive Director works closely with an involved Board of Directors and committee chairs to fulfill the objectives defined in the Society’s Strategic Plan, including the restoration and renovation of its Wisteria Cottage Campus. He/she also develops and manages the Society’s annual budget approved by the Board of Directors. The Executive Director reports to the Board.

| Qualifications |
|
|
|
|
|
• Bachelors degree or higher
• Non-profit and/or museum management experience
• Financial management and successful fundraising experience
• Energetic self starter
• Experience in public and community relations – social media a plus
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), e-mail and research/analysis tools, including web-based media

|
Salary: $77,000 - $81,000, commensurate with experience.
