Position Title: Inclusion Aide – ASES Harmonium Mission: To promote well-being and self-sufficiency in children, youth, and families through creative education, intervention, and prevention services rooted in collaboration with neighborhoods and families. Status: Non-Exempt; Contracted Employee Program Service Area: Children’s Programs Department: PrimeTime Location Varies, multi-site worker Hours: Part Time, shift/hours vary student Salary: $12.04/hr. Benefits: Retirement plan match maximum 2% of annual salary based on years of service (403b); CA Paid Sick Leave accrued at 1 hour per 30 hours worked with a maximum accrual of 48 hours per calendar year. Reports to: Program Specialist Direct Report: N/A Org Level: Work in progress Career Level: Work in progress EEO Job Category: Service worker Description: This position is directly responsible for the day-to- day supervision and inclusion of the assigned child. The Inclusion Aide is required to ensure the safety, security and well-being of the assigned child enrolled in the ASES program. Responsible for ensuring ongoing communication between the assigned child’s guardian, Program Specialist and established school personnel. Essential Functions Communication:  Provide specific communication to the Program Specialist regarding physical/emotional needs of the child  Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with school site, parents, children and Harmonium staff  Communicate with parents regarding their child on a daily basis  Maintain regular communication with established school personnel Agency Leadership:  Follow policies in own role which are determined by others; no responsibility and leadership required for service development, but may be required to comment on policies, procedures, or possible developments Job Complexity:  Provide Program Specialist with enrichment program ideas focusing on inclusion  Redirect inappropriate assigned child’s behavior and provide disciplinary action and notify Program Specialist when necessary  Provide academic homework assistance to assigned child Accountability:  Assist assigned child with integration into activities  Maintain a clean and orderly designated school space  Ensure the safety, security, and well-being of students enrolled in the program, specifically the child assigned Decision Making:  Judgments and decisions are guided by Harmonium and program policies, contracts and guidelines Staff Supervision:  Ordinarily, no supervisory responsibility

 

 Qualifications        

Minimum Competencies:  Must be 18 years of age  Must pass CAPE test or have a minimum of 48 completed college units  Must have a minimum of 6 documented training hours in the area of special needs OR 6 units in special education OR 6 months experience as SET for the San Diego Unified School District  Must have a minimum of 6 months experience working in an after school or group child care setting with elementary aged children, specifically those with special needs  Valid CPR and First Aid Certified required  Ability to relate well to children and adults  Valid TB results required  Must pass Fingerprint Clearance upon hire (paid by Harmonium)  Expressed commitment to the program and it’s philosophies during the term of your employment Physical Requirements:  Ability to operate computer  Frequent repetitive hand use and simple grasping  Occasional standing, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching above, and below the shoulder  Ability to lift and carry up to 20-50 pounds  Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods  Ability to operate a vehicle  High energy needed with the ability to balance multiple high-stress tasks  Ability to work in noisy and outdoor environments  Occasional travel in San Diego County  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions Disclaimer:  Harmonium, Inc. is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer  The employee is required to adhere to all Harmonium policies when employed  The preceding description is ONLY a general description of essential duties and not designed to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilities required of this position  Job description is subject to change at any time
