Urban Restoration Field Intern

 Job Description        

The Urban Restoration Field Intern will assist in assessing, mapping and removing trash, stormwater debris and other types of little found within the sensitive habitats of the San Diego River watershed. They will also engage and lead volunteers at regular community events organized to accomplish these tasks. Description of Duties: Performance of field surveys and site assessments within the San Diego river watershed using GPS technology Data entry and database management using established protocols Web-based mapping site management Lead volunteers in river cleanups both large and small in scale Support the execution of private corporate events which can range from planting native trees and shrubs, removing invasive species, trash and debris removal and other activities as they relate to restoration Responsible for maintenance and inventory of program related tools and supplies Photo-documentation of both the site condition as



Must be at least 18 years of age Must believe in the mission and share the values of the SDRPF and have a passion for the environment Must have reliable transportation to office and field sites Able to work as part of a team and show leadership qualities Willingness to learn new skills Good physical condition able to walk on rough terrain and through dense vegetation, lift 50 lbs Able to read a map Must be able to attend scheduled cleanup and survey events Willingness to lead and engage volunteers Computer skills including Office Suite and familiarity with web based tools Clear and concise written and verbal communication Professional demeanor, positive and friendly personality Comfortable speaking in front of groups (helpful but not required)


 Additional Information        

Time Commitment: 8 - 10 hours per week. Mix of office and field work. Requires (at a minimum) Wednesday availability and a minimum of two Saturdays a month.
