 Job Description        

The Intergenerational Volunteer Specialist serves on the Expanded Learning Team of the Children’s Initiative and assists with the implementation and ongoing operations of the Scaling Reading Success Program. This position builds strong, positive relationships and works closely with aging organizations/agencies, volunteers, school personnel and expanded learning staff to ensure the success of the reading program. This position builds and sustains multiple community partnerships for the recruitment and retention of experienced adult volunteer tutors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Intergenerational Volunteer Specialist will perform a very wide variety of tasks working as part of a cohesive team, including but not limited to: develop marketing materials and manage social media platforms for promotion, recruitment, and retention of volunteers • Manage volunteer placement; including schedules, time sheets, and other contract record keeping required • Data entry etc.



Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes •Honest, strong work ethic and a supportive and positive attitude •Sense of urgency and commitment to follow through and complete all needed duties and tasks •Strong project management and organizational skills •Keen attention to detail and aspiration to excellence •Working knowledge of aging populations, child development, literacy tutoring and expanded learning programs •Proficiently in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook •Ability to multi-task and manage multiple demands and priorities •Ability to problem solve by identifying, researching and implementing solutions •Bachelor’s degree in education or related field, or 3 to 5 years of related work experience in education, marketing or related field •Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and strong interpersonal skills •Must maintain reliable transportation, possess a valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance

The Intergenerational Volunteer Specialist reports directly to the Reading Program Coordinator. Non-Exempt position. Salary Range: $36,000-39,000
