 Job Description        

Home Start, founded in 1972, is a nonprofit, social services agency dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect and strengthening of families. We are currently seeking an Assistant Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Thrift Boutique in Normal Heights and drive the agency vehicles for deliveries and pick-ups. This position will be responsible for assisting with processing, pricing and displaying donated items; assisting customers in a polite and friendly manner; preparing store displays that are attractive, neat and orderly, rotating and restocking store merchandise to ensure quick turnover; and ensuring the accountability and security of all store items and funds. The Assistant Manager will assist in training, supervising and coordinating the scheduling of employees and volunteers to ensure high levels of customer service, promotion and sale of products. This is a part-time position with flexibility in scheduling when needed.



High school diploma or GED with 2 years' prior experience in resale/thrift store operations and management required. Excellent customer service skills, communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people are essential. Must have knowledge of POS systems, internet/on-line sales, computer skills, donation processing/inventory bar code, and experience supervising staff and/or volunteers. Marketing and merchandizing experience a plus. Must have a clean driving record with the ability to drive a box truck, cargo and passenger vans, and lift up to 50 pounds. Strong knowledge of competitive area and on-line resale clothing market highly desired. Bilingual preferred.


 Additional Information        

Wage rate - $14.00 per hour.
