Peer Mentor - LEAP (#296)

 Job Description        

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Education & Career Specialist, the Peer Mentor is responsible for providing support services to SBCS’ clients. The Peer Mentor will be responsible in keeping with agency goals, objectives, mission and style and provided within a team framework. Peer Mentor is also responsible for working with the team in developing a strategic plan to address those goals and objectives of the LEAP Post-Secondary Bridging Program.



Applicants should be extremely organized, responsible and possess a sincere desire to work with youth. Applicants need to be self-motivated leaders and be comfortable with public speaking. Experience should preferably have been in a community based or neighborhood service organization in the areas of youth services, job readiness, academic support, outreach, community education and development, advocacy and case management. The ability to work with a diverse cultural population is necessary. A.A. degree, preferred in social work, or related field, experience may be substituted for experience. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
