Harmonium Mission: To promote well-being and self-sufficiency in children, youth and their families through creative education, intervention and prevention services rooted in collaboration with neighborhoods and families. Status: Non-Exempt Program Service Area: Children’s Before & After School Programs Department: Prime Time and/or Charter School Before & After school Programs Location: Varies, multi-site worker Hours: Part time, 0 - 34 hours per week; Monday-Friday, shift/hours vary by site Salary: $14.13 per hour (all new hires begin at starting salary regardless of experience); Funding: 100% direct program approved by ELO 10.1.18 Benefits: 403b Retirement Plan with a match of up to 2% based on years of service; CA Paid Sick Leave accrued at 1 hour per 30 hours worked with a maximum accrual of 80 hours per calendar year Reports to: Site Director Direct Report: Site staff when Site Director is not present EEO Job Category: Service Worker Description: Our Assistant Site Directors are responsible for the safety, security and well-being of each child enrolled in the ASES program. They perform administrative duties in the Site Director’s absence for up to 5 consecutive days. Essential Functions Communication:  Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with school site, parents, children and Harmonium staff  Communicate with parents regarding their child on a daily basis Agency Leadership:  Act as a role model on site for the staff  Provide overall control and direction of staff on how to interact with internal &external customers when Site Director is not on duty Job Complexity:  Supervise day-to-day activities of the program while following contract  Assist with maintaining student-staff ratio  Assist Site Director in developing and implementing a diverse, creative mix of arts & crafts, sports, recreation, academic (homework assistance), and enrichment activities, that are age and interest specific for the children enrolled  Assist with electronic attendance collection, snack procedures and maintaining enrollment information Accountability:  Open/close the site as required  Maintain a clean and orderly designated school space  Ensure the safety, security, and well-being of students enrolled in the program Decision Making:  Judgments and decisions are guided by Harmonium and program policies, contracts and guidelines Staff Supervision:  Ordinarily, no supervisory responsibility except occasional project based work  This position also would function as the Site Director in her/his absence for up to 5 consecutive days



Minimum Competencies  18 years of age or older  Pass CAPE test or have a minimum of 48 college units  Must have either a minimum of 6 completed units in child development, elementary and/or middle school education, recreation or related field or a minimum of 6 months documented work experience in an ASES program  Valid Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification required  A minimum of 1 year experience working in an after school or group child care setting with elementary aged children  Demonstrated ability in sports, special interests and hobbies, and/or arts and crafts  Ability to relate well to children and adults  Valid TB results required  Must receive Fingerprint Clearance upon hire (paid by Harmonium) Physical Requirements:  Ability to operate computer  Frequent repetitive hand use and simple grasping  Occasional standing, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching above, and below the shoulder  Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds  Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods  Ability to operate a vehicle  High energy needed with the ability to balance multiple high-stress tasks  Ability to work in noisy and outdoors environment  Occasional travel in San Diego County  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions Disclaimer:  Harmonium is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer  The employee is required to adhere to all Harmonium policies when employed  The preceding description is ONLY a general description of essential duties and not designed to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilities required of this position  Job description is subject to change at any time
