Assistant Site Director - Klassic Kids

Position Title: Assistant Site Director Harmonium Mission: To promote well-being and self-sufficiency in children, youth, and adults through creative education, intervention, and prevention services rooted in collaboration with neighborhoods and families. Status: Non-exempt Program Service Area: Children’s Program Department: Licensed child care - Klassic Kids Hours: Part Time Salary: $14.69 per hour (all new hires begin at starting salary regardless of experience) Benefits: 403b Retirement Plan with a match of up to 2% based on years of service; CA Paid Sick Leave accrued at 1 hour per 30 hours worked with a maximum accrual of 80 hours per calendar year. Reports to: Site Director Direct Report: N/A EEO Job Category: Service Worker Description: Klassic Kids is a licensed childcare fee-based program offered at multiple sites throughout San Diego County. This program provides a safe and nurturing environment based on social- emotional principles to support children’s well-being and school success. The Assistant Site Director is responsible for assisting with the overall management and administration of the site. This position supports the Site Director in complying with CCL regulations, Agency policies and procedures and best practices. The Assistant Site Director is mandated to take all the necessary steps to ensure the safety, security and well-being of each child enrolled in the program. Supervision of children and center upkeep are primary responsibilities of this position. They lead the on site team when the Site Director is not present. The Assistant Site Director is responsible for supporting the healthy social/emotional development of children enrolled in the program in line with Early Childhood Development best practices. This includes using behavioral reinforcement programs, behavioral strategies to address problematic behavior, and strength based approaches. Essential Functions: Communication:  Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with school site, parents, children and Harmonium staff  Communicate with parents regarding their child on a daily basis Agency Leadership:  Act as a role model on site for the staff  Provide overall control and direction of staff on how to interact with internal & external customers when Site Director is not in duty  No responsibility and leadership required for service development, but may be required to comment on Harmonium and program policies and procedures Job Complexity:  Assist Site Director in developing programs that are age and interest specific for the children enrolled  Assist with billing and maintaining enrollment information  Assist with child enrollment as needed  Maintain a clean and orderly site, including janitorial duties Accountability:  Ensure the safety, security, and well-being of students enrolled in the program  Supervise the day-to-day activities of the site while maintaining ratios within licensing and Title 22 regulations  Assist Site Director in developing programs to provide a diverse, creative mix of age appropriate art & craft activities, recreation and homework assistance Decision Making:  Judgments and decisions are guided by Harmonium and program policies and guidelines and Title 22 regulations Staff Supervision:  Ordinarily, no supervisory responsibilities required except when site director is absent (up to 30 business days)

 

 Qualifications        

Minimum Competencies:  Must be 18 years of age or older  Must complete 12 units in early education, child, growth & development, recreation, humanities, or education including college work-study, volunteer or internship  Must complete Administration 202 course within 12 months of hire date  Possess Community Care Licensing qualifications for childcare Program Assistant, Section 101515  Current First Aid/CPR required  A minimum of one-year experience working in a day care center with school-aged children  Demonstrated ability in sports, special interests and hobbies, and/or arts and crafts  Ability to relate well to children and adults  Current health screen, negative TB test, and immunizations against Measles, Pertussis and annual Influenza (or signed an annual declaration declining the Influenza shot)  Must pass Alcohol/Drug Test and Fingerprint Clearance upon hire (paid by Harmonium)  Valid CA driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle with active insurance  Ability to substitute at other licensed locations throughout San Diego Physical Requirement:  Occasional standing, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching above, and below the shoulder  Ability to lift and carry up to 20-50 pounds  High energy needed with the ability to balance multiple high-stress tasks  Ability to work in a noisy and outdoors environment  Occasional travel in San Diego County  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions Disclaimer:  Harmonium, Inc. is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer  The preceding description is ONLY a general description of essential duties and not designed to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilities required of this position  Job description is subject to change at any time Please apply via our website: www.harmoniumsd.org/employment-2/
