Assistant Instructor w/ CDL

 Job Description        

The Assistant Field Instructor with CDL position is responsible for coordinating and facilitating positive outdoor experiences in a variety of dynamic environments for youth participants. As the program assistant, the Assistant Field Instructor with CDL is responsible for working with a field staff team of 3-4 people, responsible for group management, lesson instruction, and for mitigating safety risks. By introducing participants to the outdoors through exciting and joy-filled activities, Outdoor Outreach inspires underserved youth to see possibility and opportunity in their lives, and realize various positive attitude and behavioral changes that help them become successful adults. Outdoor Outreach runs a variety of activities including but not limited to the following: Surfing Stand-up Paddleboarding Sea Kayaking Snorkeling Rock Climbing Environmental Stewardship Mountain Biking Snowboarding Hiking Camping/Backpacking

 

 Qualifications        

Applicants must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years demonstrated experience supporting outdoor based field operations or equivalent. Candidates must have strong leadership skills and excellent oral communication skills. The ability to master the instruction of Outdoor Outreachís core activities is required. Applicants must be hard working, self-motivated, team oriented and able to maintain positivity in the face of adversity. Applicants must have a clean driving record, ability to obtain/maintain a California Class B Commercial Driverís License with Passenger Endorsement including successfully passing required drug/alcohol test within the first 90 days of employment. All instructors must successfully pass a Federal Background Check at hire. Minimum First Aid and CPR certified. Wilderness First Aid or higher certification preferred. Successful candidates must demonstrate a deep commitment and passion for the mission and values of Outdoor Outreach.
