Senior Field Instructor

 Job Description        

The Senior Field Instructor position is responsible for coordinating and facilitating positive outdoor experiences in a variety of dynamic environments for youth participants. As the program lead, the Senior Field Instructor is responsible for communicating program tasks with a field staff team of 3-4 people, responsible for group management and for mitigating safety risks. As lead instructor, the Senior Field Instructor is also responsible for staff supervision, group management and risk management. By introducing participants to the outdoors through exciting and joy-filled activities, Outdoor Outreach inspires underserved youth to see possibility and opportunity in their lives, and realize various positive attitude and behavioral changes that help them become successful adults. Outdoor Outreach runs a variety of activities including but not limited to the following: Surfing Stand-up Paddleboarding Sea Kayaking Snorkeling Rock Climbing Environmental Stewardship Mountain Biking

 

 Qualifications        

Applicants must be a minimum of 21 years of age, and have a minimum of 2 years demonstrated experience supporting outdoor based field operations or equivalent with a minimum of 1 year experience in a leadership role. Candidates must have strong leadership skills and excellent oral communication skills. The ability to master the instruction of Outdoor Outreachís core activities is required. Applicants must be hard working, self-motivated, team oriented and able to maintain positivity in the face of adversity. Successful candidates must demonstrate a deep commitment and passion for the mission and values of Outdoor Outreach. Applicants must have a clean driving record and the ability to obtain and maintain a California Class B Commercial Driverís License with Passenger Endorsement within the first 90 days of employment. All candidates must successfully pass a Federal Background Check at hire. Minimum First Aid and CPR certified. Wilderness First Aid or higher certification preferred.
