 Job Description        

The Diamond Educational Excellence Partnership (DEEP) seeks to employ six Summer Literacy Instructors to deliver the Summer Readers-Future Leaders Learning Program at two local elementary school sites during the summer of 2019. The program, which includes opportunities for students to explore the arts, science, and deepen their reading foundational and comprehension skills, will run from June 24 through July 26, 2019 and include two paid days of instructor training/collaborative planning on June 18 and June 19. The entire assignment involves 130 hours of work, including 4 hours of literacy-linked instruction daily, plus additional time for training, collaborative planning, student assessment, and independent preparation time. Each instructor will be responsible for planning and delivering literacy curricula to a group of 20 rising 2nd and 3rd-grade students. Each instructor will be supported by one PrimeTime staff member and, if available, one university Student Fellow.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS • Must already be trained on the California Reading & Literature Project RESULTS and RALLI-Academic Language and Literacy Instruction • Bachelor’s Degree • Current California Teaching Credential • At least one-year teaching experience at the elementary school level • Current classroom teaching assignment at DEEP partner schools. • Must be available for the entire program. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Active Teacher Leader status with the California Reading and Literature Project Reading Certificate and/or Literary resource teacher experience  Prior experience teaching in this program


 Additional Information        

• Complete training/planning in the designated literacy curriculum and implement the summer literacy curriculum with fidelity; • Plan and deliver literacy instruction and assessments to the assigned students using the program’s prescribed curriculum and program of activities; • Collect assessment data pre- and post-program; • Accompany and support students in science linked-to-literacy learning activities; • Accompany students on field trips to the local library branch; • Work with university students and PrimeTime Staff assigned to each class of 20 students; • Adhere to PrimeTime policies and procedures regarding student safety, behavior, attendance. • Meet once weekly in 2-hour collaborative planning session facilitated by an expert coach. • Participate in focus groups and surveys at the program’s completion. Program Schedule Must be available Monday-Friday from June 24 - July 26, 2019 – morning hours weeks 1-4, alternating morning and afternoon hours week 5.
