Mental Health – Part Time Parent Advocates

 Job Description        

*** Part Time Hours range from 2-8PM Monday - Thursday, 20-25 hours a week *** Help reunite families! Great clinical experience for graduate students! Be a part of a committed, dedicated and skilled group of professionals, who will work together to create and design an effective, responsive and collaborative program to reunite families. New Alternatives was recently awarded the Incredible Years contract that will work with families who are reunifying with their children. Our program will provide individual, group and family therapy, supervised visitation, case management and parenting groups throughout San Diego County. New Alternatives, Inc. is looking for Parent Advocates who understand how to engage parents who have experienced adversity. We are looking ideally for individuals who have solid experience engaging children and adults and providing mental health services to families in the Child Welfare System. NORTH COUNTY POSITIONS AVAILABLE! Parent Advocates will provide: •engaging case management services for successful reunification •linkages to community resources to support and enhance successful reunification •in home support services to help strengthen parenting skills that will lead to successful reunification •transportation services with children and teens •co facilitation of Incredible Years parenting groups (training provided) •clear communication when documenting and interacting with the team •other duties as assigned

 

 Qualifications        

Requirements: •MUST HAVE: lived experience either as an individual seeking and receiving mental health services or as a parent or caregiver of a child who has received mental health services •BA/BS degree, preferred •reliable transportation •ability to engage, motivate and build rapport with families who have faced great adversity •SPANISH SPEAKING preferred
