Community Organizer

 Job Description        

•Recruit, and retain, community members through various events and outreach. •Research campaign targets, develop strategies, conduct power analysis, and assist community members in advocating change. •Structure, coordinate, and execute campaign actions/events. •Develop, create, and execute MCC Momentum Team goals and objectives in the form of a campaign chart/plan. •Deliver custom program materials, modules, and simulations based on the MCC tool kit and methodology, as well as training others in application. •Complete weekly data entry and progress reporting. •Overnight travel required 30% of time. •Flexible hours, weekend and evening work required 40% of time. •Hours in excess of 8 hours per day on occasion. •Establish and maintain working relationships with MCC Staff and internal and external stakeholders. •Integrate voter engagement efforts into organizing campaign and base-building. •Routinely conduct neighborhood canvassing, phone-banking, and other recruitment event.

 

 Qualifications        

•Bachelor’s or graduate degree in community development or organizing, social work, ethnic studies, political science, or commensurate professional experience. •Community organizing or leadership training strongly preferred. •Bilingual (Spanish, Somali, Swahili, Arabic, Vietnamese, or other). •Ability to generate data-driven reports and briefs for informed decision-making. •Ability to manage conflict, perform under pressure, in a fast-paced flexible environment. •Ability to take initiative, work independently, and work with a team when necessary. •Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, direct interpersonal workplace communication, and public speaking skills. •Ability to maintain relationships with diverse constituencies and sensitivity in dealing with diversity issues. •Ability to adapt to learning new ideas and concepts, responding to changes and last-minute requests. •Access to reliable transportation. •Commitment to professional growth and development.

 

 Additional Information        

Compensation: The annual salary range for this full-time, exempt position is $54,080, commensurate with work experience, skills and educational background.
