 Job Description        

POSITION SUMMARY Armed with personal experience, skills, and information, persons with lived experience are often the most effective at reaching and engaging other LGBTQ young people who are vulnerable and connect them to Center services, including housing, drop-in services and mental health services. Under the direction of the Community Housing Manager, The Center's Peer Outreach Navigator will identify and link young people to programs offered by The Center and other services providers as appropriate. This position will also provide support, role modeling, and coaching in addition to facilitating the intake process and increasing the organizations exposure in areas of the community unaware of The Center's services. Specific duties include: Conduct community street outreach in specific targeted areas where LGBTQ youth who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability may congregate including (but not limited to) neighborhoods, schools, wellness centers, and libraries.



QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in working with LGBT youth, HIV+ youth and/or youth of color is preferred. Experience working with transgender and gender non-conforming youth preferred. Training in trauma-informed care and positive youth development preferred. Prior experience working with homeless youth and the foster care and juvenile dependency systems is preferred. Language Skills: Fluency in English required. Fluency in Spanish preferred. Other Skills: Must demonstrate competency in working with a variety of diverse populations. Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities. Those with lived experience as a member of a historically under-served community (i.e.,
