Leisure Express Local is commited to providing recreational opportunities for teens and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities! What do we do? We take small groups of adults and teens into the community to enjoy recreational activities such as bowling, sporting events, movies, dances, picnics, SD Zoo, SD Fair, street fairs, etc. We are currently looking for volunteers to assist in the delivery of this important program. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, have a clean record (we Livescan/fingerprint and drug test all volunteers), complete our training and orientation, and be able to commit to at least 1 activity per month (4-8 hours per month on average). Activities take place during regular recreation hours, usually Friday evenings and Saturday or Sunday days. When there is an entrance fee (SD Fair, movies, etc.), volunteer costs are covered by program. We are sponsored by The Arc of San Diego.

1. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age
2. Have a clean background (we Livescan) and be able to pass a drug test and physical
3. Be available to attend at least 1 event every 2 months (4-8 hours/month on average)
4. Be able to lift 50 pounds
5. The ability to assist with transfers of persons in wheelchairs as required (we will train you)
6. Be able to participate in physical activities including; exstensive walking in various terrains and long periods of standing
7. Be able to provide direct support to participants if/when necessary
8. Be able to maintain age appropriate CPR and First Aid Certifications, we can provide
9. Have a neat, clean apprearance and be able to dress appropriately for activities (tattoos and piercings will NOT disqualify you as a volunteer)
10. Be able to attend a Volunteer orientation and training
