Housing Support Specialist- TPSS Program

 Job Description        

The Housing Peer Support Specialist, as part of the TPSS team, will assist people experiencing homelessness who are connected to outpatient county Behavioral Health Clinics. They will conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals and families to determine housing eligibility, proper placement options, and financial assistance and resource needs. The Housing Peer Support Specialist is responsible for helping participants in addressing housing barriers, including but not limited to, obtaining necessary identification documentation, providing proof of homelessness, benefits statements, proof of income, etc. The Housing Peer Support Specialist recruits and develops relationships with community landlords to work with TPSS participants. When a participant becomes housed the Housing Peer Support Specialist conducts home visits to ensure they are maintaining good landlord/tenant/neighbor relationships and to assist the participant in establishing a network of community resources and support.



Experience and understanding of working with vulnerable populations; BA/BS in Social Work or comparable discipline, OR Associates Degree with a focus on social work, business administration, public administration, or a related field and one (1) year of applicable job experience, OR High school Diploma or GED and a minimum of a combined two (2) years of lived experience, at least one (1) year of applicable job experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Work, Excel). Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. A positive attitude that is flexible and adaptable to a changing environment. Strong organizational skills. Individuals with lived experience and historically underrepresented applicants are strongly encouraged to apply. Reliable transportation is required. Bilingual Spanish speaker preferred.
