About Francis Parker School: Francis Parker School is a coeducational independent day school in San Diego, California with 1235 students in grades JK-12. Founded in 1912, the school’s mission is “to create and inspire a diverse community of independent thinkers whose academic excellence, global perspective and strength of character prepare them to make a meaningful difference in the world”. Overlooking Mission Valley, two separate campuses serve students in Lower School – junior kindergarten through 5th grade; Middle School – 6th grade through 8th grade and Upper School – 9th grade through 12th grade. As a college preparatory school Parker offers a comprehensive program that includes twenty-five advanced placement courses as well as a rich palette of electives – all designed to meet the individual needs of our students. Job Description: Reporting to the Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day accounting operations within the Business Office, including processing of student billing, assisting with month-end close, and assisting in preparation of schedules for the year-end audit.



Essential Duties/Responsibilities: • Process student billings and maintain billing and tuition system • Revenue reporting analysis • Maintain Fixed Asset sub-ledger (e.g., record purchases, disposals and depreciation) • Assist with month-end close (e.g., record journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, analyze transactions, explain variances, etc.) • Assist with year-end audit • Generate ad hoc reports and analyses as needed In addition to the duties listed above, Francis Parker School expects the following of each employee: adheres to Francis Parker policies and procedures; works in a safe manner; performs duties as workload necessitates; maintains a positive and respectful attitude; communicates regularly with supervisor about department issues; demonstrates efficient time management and prioritizes workload; demonstrates regular and consistent attendance and punctuality; meets department productivity standards; participates in Parker events as needed or required; and completes other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration • At least 3 to 5 years of increasingly responsible roles in accounting and/or finance • Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles • Hands-on experience with at least one major accounting system, preferably Blackbaud • Advanced Excel skills • Proven track record for meeting deadlines • Demonstrated ability to resolve problems in a timely manner • Exceptional attention-to-detail • Experience handling confidential information • Aptitude for making continuous improvements • Excellent organizational and customer service skills
