About Francis Parker School: Francis Parker School is a coeducational independent day school in San Diego, California with 1235 students in grades JK-12. Founded in 1912, the school’s mission is “to create and inspire a diverse community of independent thinkers whose academic excellence, global perspective and strength of character prepare them to make a meaningful difference in the world”. Overlooking Mission Valley, two separate campuses serve students in Lower School – junior kindergarten through 5th grade; Middle School – 6th grade through 8th grade and Upper School – 9th grade through 12th grade. As a college preparatory school Parker offers a comprehensive program that includes twenty-five advanced placement courses as well as a rich palette of electives – all designed to meet the individual needs of our students. Job Description: Francis Parker School is seeking a long term substitute upper school math teacher for the current academic year to teach three sections of Honors Pre-Calculus and two sections of Algebra 2. The start date is still being determined.

 

 Qualifications        

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Daily responsibilities include teaching 5 sections of upper school math as the primary instructor (please see above). In addition to the duties listed above, Francis Parker School expects the following of each employee: adheres to Francis Parker policies and procedures; works in a safe manner; performs duties as workload necessitates; maintains a positive and respectful attitude; communicates regularly with supervisor about department issues; demonstrates efficient time management and prioritizes workload; demonstrates regular and consistent attendance and punctuality; meets department productivity standards; participates in Parker events as needed or required; and completes other duties as assigned. Additionally, this position includes the presentation of curriculum, the collection and grading of homework, the appropriate documentation of assessments, all grading responsibilities and the communications associated with those responsibilities. A love of children, a passionate commitment to rigorous and supportive instruction, and a desire to work with all types of learners is a must. Training in math instruction and/or a teaching certificate is a plus. Qualifications: At a minimum, candidates will have a relevant degree in math or related field with 3-5 years of experience teaching at the secondary school level. Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and outstanding communication skills are a must.

 

 Additional Information        

Salary and Benefits: The long-term sub rate is $225 per day. This position is not eligible for benefits.
