 Job Description        

Key Responsibilities:*Ensure the Front Gate or the Special Exhibit are ready to be opened on time on assigned days.*Welcome visitors to the Garden; process and track admission payments from visitors who enter the Garden or the Special Exhibit.*Provide information about the Garden, exhibits, and general information about Balboa Park locations and events.*Handle and balance cash and credit card sales*Manage gift shop sales and inventory (this will include food and drink sales and their preparation)*Assist in the display and restocking of gift shop items. *Patrol the Exhibit Gallery*Assist in de-installing and installing the Lower Garden exhibit and gift shop as needed.*Assist in the opening/closing procedures of the Garden, including ensuring that everything is open/ locked properly and the restrooms are clean.



Requirements:*Must be customer service oriented, comfortable working in a fast paced environment, have some cash handling experience, and be able to lift at least 40 lbs.*Will need to work evenings, weekends and holidays.*Will need to work during Special Events (these typically take place 1-3 times a week between the months of February and November and are typically held between 2:30pm-1:30am). Work during Garden Events (these take place approximately 5 times per year, usually on Friday evenings or weekends).*Must have a valid California driverís license.


 Additional Information        

*During Events, Staff will be asked to assist in setting up and breaking down tables, chairs, and sound systems. Staff will also be asked to monitor sound systems and air conditioning systems. In some cases, set-up and break-down will require carrying equipment up to 300 feet on an incline.*During events, staff may be asked to shuttle guests in a golf cart or the Gardenís van.Additional Responsibilities:*Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned including clerical, cleaning, and administrative support tasks.*Cover Front Gate staff for breaks when needed and not assigned to the Front Gate. *Ability to manage a small team of volunteers during Garden Events. *Become an effective reporter/mediator when needed to ensure the Garden provides excellent customer service and is a safe place to work.
