 Job Description        

Essential Functions: Process and record incoming donations, checks, credit card payments and grants payments into QuickBooks. Process vendor invoices and employee expenses and prepare checks runs. Process semi-monthly payroll for approximately 48 employees using Paychex. Assist with Accounting Audits and Grant Audits as needed. Assist in the monthly close process. Assist the Controller and COO with special projects, reports, and financial statements as needed.

 

 Qualifications        

Knowledge & Skills: At least 3 years of solid accounting/bookkeeping experience Previous experience in a non-profit setting desirable. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, assess priorities, take initiative, follow through on a variety of tasks and be extremely organized and detail oriented Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB) required. Knowledge of policies and procedures associated with payroll and benefits administration required. Working knowledge of QuickBooks, Paychex or comparable payroll software, Excel and Outlook required Working knowledge of eTapestry or other donor databases preferred. Ability to take initiative, exercise sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions. BA/BS in accounting or finance preferred.

 

 Additional Information        

General Description: Under the supervision of Controller and COO, Accountant will process full cycle accounts payable; semi-monthly payroll processing; record checks and cash received; and prepare schedules and supporting documents as needed.
