About Francis Parker School: Francis Parker School is a coeducational independent day school in San Diego, California with 1300 students in grades JK-12. Founded in 1912, the school’s mission is “to create and inspire a diverse community of independent thinkers whose academic excellence, global perspective and strength of character prepare them to make a meaningful difference in the world”. Overlooking Mission Valley, two separate campuses serve students in Lower School – junior kindergarten through 5th grade; Middle School – 6th grade through 8th grade and Upper School – 9th grade through 12th grade. As a college preparatory school Parker offers a comprehensive program that includes twenty-five advanced placement courses as well as a rich palette of electives – all designed to meet the individual needs of our students. Job Description: This is a full-time position assisting the Director of Summer & Extended Day Programs in the implementation and creation of School programs. The ideal candidate will be an innovative administrator with exceptional leadership, management, oral/written communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will also have a broad range of experience in all areas of summer and extended day programs, budget management, staff oversight and leadership in addition to a proven track record of creativity and of building strong relationships with faculty/staff, parents/guardians, students, and the external community. This individual will also possess the following qualities or expertise: strategic and analytical thinking; active listening; building and maintaining teamwork; strong commitment to customer service; highly motivated; diligent seeker of funding opportunities from a wide spectrum of sources; active leader in the community; strong business sense; balance of assertiveness and diplomacy; good sense of humor; friendly and outgoing.

 

 Qualifications        

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Summer Program: • Program Development and Planning o Help support and collaborate with the Director to continue expanding and improving the Program’s mission and vision o Conduct administrative and department duties as needed to ensure smooth operation of the program o Collaborate with the Director to establish the development and calendaring of timelines and deadlines o Analyze enrollment trends and strategize with the Director to support student enrollment and experience o Coordinate and collaborate with the Director to fulfill the American Camping Association (ACA) accreditation requirements o Innovate and develop effective ways to make Camp registration and user experience easy and encouraging. o Lead on CampBrain usage and development as an effective tool for managing Camp in all aspects, from registration to roster development. • Promotion/Recruitment o Maintain, update, and process courses in CampBrain, website and marketing materials o The primary user and resident expert of CampBrain database o Participate in school site visits promoting Summer Program in spring of each year o Maintain vendor records and paperwork in a timely manner o Help maintain relationships with vendor/outside source collaboration and growth • Staffing o Collaborate with the Director in corresponding with faculty and staff for information on expectations, timelines, and course curricula o Have a complete understanding of our program and all roles; must be able to fill in for any staff member for any reason o Manage and supervise all faculty/staff members and students o Based on the pre-established timeline, order apparel, and supplies as needed for Summer Program staff and students o Conduct and collaborate with the Director in the administrative and departmental duties as needed to ensure smooth operation of the program • Registration o Serve as the primary registrar for the Summer Program enrollment. Ensure the maintenance of accurate program and administrative records. o Correspond and support all parent communications with regards to registration and address parent concerns in a timely manner o Collaborate with the Director to support faculty, staff, and coaches throughout the school year and during the Summer Program o Conduct and collaborate with the Director in the administrative and departmental duties as needed to ensure smooth operation of the program International and Scholarship Programs • STS o Conduct and collaborate with the Director in the administrative and departmental duties as needed to ensure smooth operation of the program o Be the point of contact and support for program registration o Participate in staff and/or student orientation o Ensure the maintenance of accurate program and administrative records • IEM o Conduct and collaborate with the Director in the administrative and departmental duties as needed to ensure smooth operation of the program o Be the point of contact and support for program registration o Participate in staff and/or student orientation o Ensure the maintenance of accurate program and administrative records • Weickart Scholars o Collaborate with the Director to support the implementation of the Weickart Scholarship Program o Participate in school site visits and promotion of Scholarship Program in spring of each year o Based on the timeline, be the point of contact and support for program registration o Ensure the maintenance of accurate program and administrative records After School Program (ASP) & Day Camps • ASP & Day Camps o Collaborate with the Director to implement and create programmings that support the School’s mission and vision o Maintain and support the overarching Program’s goals and ensure adherence to the School’s policies and procedures o Conduct and collaborate with the Director in the administrative and departmental duties as needed to ensure smooth operation of the program o Take the lead in parent communications with regards to registration and billing and address parent concerns in a timely manner o Analyze enrollment trends and strategize with the Director to support student enrollment and experience o Ensure the maintenance of accurate program and administrative records o Provide previous monthly billing information to the business office by the 10th of each month o Assist in the hiring process (review resumes, conduct phone screenings, schedule final interviews) as needed to fill staff openings o Provide guidance, support, and oversight for After School staff and students at the Lower and Middle School • Enrichment o Assist the Director with the vision and implementation of Enrichment programs for the After School Program o Analyze trends, manage and complete the day to day operations, and be the primary lead contact and for Enrichment vendors and programs o Work with the Director to discover and establish potential Enrichment vendors o Assist the Director is the management and supervision of the After School Aides and students Francis Parker School expects the following of each employee, and that he/she adheres to Francis Parker School’s policies and procedures; works in a safe manner; performs duties as workload necessitates; maintains a positive and respectful attitude; communicates regularly with supervisor about department issues; demonstrates efficient time management and prioritizes workload; demonstrates regular and consistent attendance and punctuality; meets department productivity standards; participates in Parker events as needed or required; and completes other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Undergraduate College/University Degree is required; a master's degree in education is highly desirable • A minimum of at least 3 years of experience working in the field of education and/or Summer and Enrichment Programs • Demonstrated knowledge of CampBrain or similar camp management software • Substantial computer skills with an emphasis on data management • A minimum of at least 3 years of management or related program experience • Must be detail oriented • Polished interpersonal skills • Must possess sophisticated business writing skills • Flexibility to work some weekends and evenings as necessary • Must be professional in presentation • Must be able to work independently as well as cross-departmentally • Ability to speak and understand Spanish is desirable
