 Job Description        

San Diego Art Institute (SDAI) seeks Visitor Relations Associates who will greet guests, handle admissions, answer phone and in-person inquiries, and support gift shop sales during operating hours, Monday to Sunday. SDAI is an 8,000 square foot contemporary art center located in San Diego’s Balboa Park. Founded in 1941, SDAI is a showcase featuring contemporary art and artists living in Southern California and Northern Baja. Current programming includes several major annual exhibitions, an active artist-in-residence program, and a robust series of lectures, workshops, performances, and social/cultural events. Greet Guests – Provide clear information about SDAI, current programming, and membership; manage incoming phone calls. Handle Admission & Sales Transactions Support Gift Shop – Conduct sales, accurately record transactions, maintain inventory and store appearance, assist with orders and stocking. Miscellaneous – Open/close facility, data entry, light clerical duties.



Directly related work experience in reception, retail sales, customer relations. Knowledge and interest in contemporary art. An interest in helping people and handling complaints in a calm manner. Good numeracy and IT skills. Ability to handle multiple duties at one time. Graphic design/website management/social media skills are plusses.


 Additional Information        

This is a part-time position requiring at least 15 and up to 30 hours per week over weekdays and/or weekends, and evening responsibilities. Salary starts at $12 per hour depending on experience.
