 Job Description        

AS A VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR, YOUR DUTIES INCLUDE: • Understanding the levels of volunteer engagement and opportunities we offer to the community • Proactively recruiting volunteer support for the organization year-round • Maintaining a toolkit of resources and contacts for support and recruitment • Communicating with prospective volunteers, community members, current volunteers and staff with authenticity, promptness, kindness and thoroughness • Facilitating new volunteer orientations and the onboarding process (including data entry, form collection, interviews, orientation, and coordination for training) • Supporting feedback collection from volunteers to ensure they feel heard and respected, and to improve our volunteer experience • Soliciting in-kind donations to support events and to offer volunteers and program participants, boosting the Words Alive community and resources we provide • Appreciating volunteers throughout the year with awards, events, notes and tokens of recognition



• You are personable, you enjoy making human connections and building relationships • You are resourceful, can take initiative and gather information to work through a project independently • You are organized, can manage moving parts of a calendar and of processes • You are accountable, enjoy taking ownership of things and having a true sense of responsibility that finds satisfaction in doing things right and naturally following up with other parties and/or next steps • You are comfortable and professional communicating in any/all forms and can command a room of volunteers in an orientation setting (email, phone calls, in-person or seminar interaction occur on a daily basis) • You are excited about our work and can authentically communicate enthusiasm to potential volunteers and partners • You have a bachelor’s degree and can work confidently with computer basics (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and a donor database • You respect and uphold confidentiality when communicating


 Additional Information        

Full-time, non-exempt position beginning July 8, 2019 • Rate is $15.00 per hour • Health benefits and participation in a retirement plan available after a 90-day probationary period • Position reports to the Volunteer Program Manager • Typical schedule is 40 hours weekly with evenings and weekends as required • All staff support in receiving and delivering program material to/from the office - the second floor of an older building without an elevator. Staff must be able to lift up to 30 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
