About Francis Parker School: Francis Parker School is a coeducational independent day school in San Diego, California with 1300 students in grades JK-12. Founded in 1912, the school’s mission is “to create and inspire a diverse community of independent thinkers whose academic excellence, global perspective and strength of character prepare them to make a meaningful difference in the world”. Overlooking Mission Valley, two separate campuses serve students in Lower School – junior kindergarten through 5th grade; Middle School – 6th grade through 8th grade and Upper School – 9th grade through 12th grade. As a college preparatory school Parker offers a comprehensive program that includes twenty-five advanced placement courses as well as a rich palette of electives – all designed to meet the individual needs of our students. Job Description: The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for the daily scheduling, compliance, and appropriate reporting of all FPS transportation needs. This fast-paced position combines a variety of daily activities requiring personal adaptability, strong time management skills, active problem solving capabilities, and an exceptional attention to detail to ensure consistent and accurate performance.



Essential Duties/Responsibilities: • Ensure safe and efficient operation of buses, drivers, and riders • Maintain all pertinent records for the department in an accurate manner • Assign all daily work to drivers and staff in accordance with adopted procedures • Ensure all field trips and athletic sporting event trips are scheduled/assigned within the adopted timelines • Develop and support a strong professional environment among transportation and operations staff • Assess accidents, incidents, and complaints. Assist in accident investigations. • Perform legal, state, and local reporting responsibilities. • Coordinate with the Mechanic regarding responsibility and accountability to ensure integrity of buses in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines • Assist the Director of Transportation in recommending and implementing departmental improvements to procedures, processes, personnel, systems, budget, and general administrative activities • Communicate and collaborate effectively with external and internal constituents, including departmental personnel, parents, and school administrators • Establish and update safe and efficient transportation routes when needed • Assist the Director of Transportation in reviewing and responding to passenger behavioral concerns • Assist the Director of Transportation in recruiting, selecting, and training applicants to maintain staffing level • Prepare accurate billing information for class field trips and sports trips • Assist in providing monthly safety and training classes • Ensure all current laws and regulations pertaining to student safety, driver qualifications and licensing requirements, and vehicle maintenance and reporting are implemented • Educate drivers on effective parent and student communication and interaction • Comply with school policies and procedures Qualifications: Required: ● Minimum Associates Degree ● Valid California Driver’s License with clean driving record ● Valid California Commercial Driver’s License with passenger and air brake endorsements, or willingness to obtain within three months of hire ● Valid California Special School Bus Driver’s Certificate, or willingness to obtain within three months of hire ● Familiarity with California laws pertaining to school buses and driver procedures ● Knowledge of San Diego County ● Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively and professionally communicate with all levels of staff and parents; ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others ● Proficient use of common software applications (i.e. Excel, Word) ● Ability to assess emergency situations and respond appropriately ● Exceptional time management skills in order to consistently meet schedules and deadlines ● Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work ● Courteous and professional demeanor ● Ability to be flexible, tactful, use mature judgment, and exhibit integrity and resourcefulness Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug testing Desired: ● Bachelors Degree or Higher ● Knowledge of the operation of a school transportation program including scheduling, routing, and dispatching of equipment and drivers. ● Ability to learn designated bus routes including stops and traffic hazards

Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, hourly (benefitted) position.
