Preferred Qualifications and Experience |
•Current student (undergraduate or graduate) in international affairs or relevant discipline
•Excellent writing skills – ability to transform research into concise products for non-academic audiences
•Active in student organizations that could form a potential fundraising partnership with Millie’s a plus
•Comfortable working remotely using platforms such as Slack, Asana, and Google Suite
•Interest in or experience working in the humanitarian industry
Millie's Bookshelf is a 501(c)(3) humanitarian literacy nonprofit organization based in San Diego, CA dedicated to ensuring that displaced people worldwide have access to adequate reading resources. Millie’s mission is to improve childhood literacy and well-being by addressing book deserts in conflict settings. In 2020, Millie’s has global programs planned in Mexico, Jordan, and San Diego.
The Operations Internship is designed to give students a glimpse into the various career options available within a humanitarian nonprofit. The intern will rotate between departments, completing a project each in Development, Global Programs, Supporter Programs, and Communications. This position will report to the Executive Director, working 5 hours of work per week from February 1st – May 8th, 2020. This is a remote internship; successful performance in no way guarantees future paid employment with Millie’s Bookshelf.
