Volunteer Engagement Coordinator

 Job Description        

•Developing the volunteer program at SMSC, bringing resources of highly-skilled volunteers to the individuals with developmental disabilities and families the program serves. •Spend time in the community, building partnerships, and forging lasting relationships •Develop procedures and protocols for volunteer functions •Outreach to employers, local businesses, and community organizations to recruit volunteers •Recruit and train community members as volunteers for programs that support individuals with developmental disabilities •Track volunteer program and infrastructure development •Serve side-by-side with volunteers to provide guidance and to improve the volunteer experience. •Work closely with Board Members and Development Committee to encourage long term and meaningful engagement •Participate in team planning and regular review of development needs •Coordinate and collaborate with Events and Marketing to determine the various volunteer positions and responsibilities.

 

 Qualifications        

•Minimum of six (6) months experience in direct training of adults with developmental disabilities, or equivalent experience •May be qualified with no experience in some cases (with proper references and additional trainings offered by SMSC). •Knowledge of behavior modification techniques •Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Art Related Field or equivalent experience •Some college course work preferred •Ability to develop consumer program plans and keep simple records •Must be able to conform to applicable laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to Title 17 and Title 22 of the State of California •Ability to work with consumers, care providers, parents, social workers, and other community agencies •Able to communicate effectively – orally and in written form •Ability to deal with constant change in a fast-paced setting •First Aid and CPR required for the position
