About Francis Parker School: Francis Parker School is a coeducational independent day school in San Diego, California with 1300 students in grades JK-12. Founded in 1912, the school’s mission is “to create and inspire a diverse community of independent thinkers whose academic excellence, global perspective and strength of character prepare them to make a meaningful difference in the world”. Overlooking Mission Valley, two separate campuses serve students in Lower School – junior kindergarten through 5th grade; Middle School – 6th grade through 8th grade and Upper School – 9th grade through 12th grade. As a college preparatory school Parker offers a comprehensive program that includes twenty-five advanced placement courses as well as a rich palette of electives – all designed to meet the individual needs of our students. Job Description: This opening is full-time, temporary (one-year assignment) for the 2020-21 school year: Monday - Friday (8:00 am - 4:30 pm). The School is seeking an Associate Teacher with experience working in elementary schools. Instructional responsibilities will involve contributing to and teaching lessons, working closely with a classroom teacher and grade level team to coordinate curriculum and instruction, and communicating closely and effectively within the school community. In addition to their teaching responsibilities, faculty members, including Associate Teachers, may participate in other components of the life of the school, including committees and duties.

 

 Qualifications        

Qualifications: Applicants should have a bachelor's degree, and a teaching credential is desirable. Prior elementary school experience is essential. The successful applicant will be computer literate, possess excellent writing skills, be willing to work as a strong team member, and have an abiding interest in helping young people experience success in school. Additionally, an understanding of Singapore Math and Balanced Literacy is also desirable. Salary and Benefits: This temporary Full Time Associate Teacher position is eligible for full medical/dental benefits coverage. This position is paid hourly with pay ranging from $14.50 - $17.50 per hour, depending on experience and educational background.
